Research project – The function of subtype I-F CRISPR/Cas systems
CRISPR/Cas systems provide immunity against viruses and plasmids in bacteria and archaea. All of these systems are classified in several types and subtypes with their own structural and functional features. Investigation of each of subtypes provides understanding the mechanisms of action of different CRISPR/Cas systems. It could not only expand our knowledge about life but also give the opportunity to use that information for applied purposes such a production of phage-resistant industrial bacterial strains.
