Vladimir Antonov

Graduate of the Moscow institute of Physics and Technology, Russia, Vladimir received his PhD degree in Physics from the Institute of problems of Microelectronics RAS  in 1994.  He conducted his postdoctoral research on mesoscopic superconductivity  and terahertz technology at Basic Research Laboratories of NTT and Tokyo University, Japan.  In 2000, Vladimir joint to Royal Holloway University of London as Lecturer at the department of Physics, where he  set up a new experimental activity on terahertz imaging and high power diode lasers. In 2006, Vladimir was promoted to Reader of Nanophysics. From 2000 to 2018 he managed the nano fabrication facilities at the Royal Holloway University of London. Vladimir has published more than 70 papers in refereed journals.

Vladimir has pioneered in the field of proximity effect in mesoscopic normal metal-superconductor systems and single photon counting of terahertz radiation. The research is continued with development of terahertz-mid infrared imaging system and technology of semiconductor lasers. Vladimir has leveraged over £10M of funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Royal Society, the British Council,  the EU and industry.
