Research project – Identification and functional characterization of novel lasso peptides with antibacterial activity.
The steadily growing number of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic bacteria is one of the most serious problem of modern medicine. Solving this problem requires a search for new antibacterial agents.
The goal of my project is to obtain, purify and study novel antibacterial peptides having a lasso-structure and explore their antibacterial activity.
Results of this project can potentially lead to development of new peptide antibiotics.
