Dr Sakellaris Mailis graduated from the Physics department at the University of Crete in Greece. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Crete/Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH-IESL) in 1996. In 1998 he joined the Optoelectronics Research Centre at Southampton in UK as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate laser-induced optical and structural modifications in ferroelectric crystals and other photonic materials. He became a senior Research Follow in 2000 and Principal Research Fellow in 2008. He joined the Hybrid Photonics lab at Skoltech in 2019 where he is conducting research on the development of optical waveguide circuits in photonic materials and the growth of 2D semiconductors.
Dr Mailis has published over 160 journal and conference papers, including a book chapter and two review articles.
