Ivan Merenkov is a material scientist from Syberia. Ivan graduated from Novosibirsk State University and received a Ph.D. in the Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry in 2018.
His previous research was focused on low-temperature CVD synthesis and the study of vertically oriented h-BN nanosheets (this type of nanostructure was named as “nanowalls”). The h-BN nanowalls can be also doped by carbon and oxygen atoms resulting in improving luminescent properties and metal-free photocatalytic activity.
Ivan Merenkov’s current research under the supervision of Dr. Victoria Nikitina in Skoltech will be aimed at developing novel methodologies for the characterization of electrode materials for metal-ion batteries and electrocatalysts at a single-particle level.
In addition, Ivan actively popularizes science: make videos for his YouTube channel and take public lectures on chemistry and nanotechnology.
