Thesis: A concurrent design method and process support by collaborative tools

Dominik Knoll is a graduate student and researcher in the Strategic Innovation Research Group lead by prof. Alessandro Golkar.

He graduated from the University of Salzburg (Austria) in 2007 in Applied Computer Science with a thesis on autonomous robotics and computational intelligence. By that time he deliberately chose to start working in IT business to get hands on experience in a broad range of duties before getting back to academia. In 2014 he joined SkolTech to proceed his studies, research and innovate. As part of the research group he is engaged in the setup and fitting-out of SkolTech’s Concurrent Engineering Design Lab.

Loving to engineer his ultimate goal is to create tools that significantly improve peoples’ lives. As a Software Engineer he is passionate about applications for team collaboration and organizational communication, knowing that every technical innovation needs to account for human interaction and collaboration.

His educational background includes and electronics engineer diploma from High school, a bachelor’s and master’s degree in applied computer science. He started his early work experience in internships as system administrator and helpdesk engineer in a multinational company. After graduation he worked in Austria, Italy and Switzerland as system administrator and ERP engineer. Since he moved to Russia in 2010 he worked as software developer for Russian and Italian companies successfully collaborating on enterprise software projects. All this rich experience he wants to bring in his research and in future also education.

He is engaged in an international volunteer’s association to help building fraternity among all people.
