Alexander Tyurin

‌Alexander Tyurin is an Assistant Professor at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and a Senior Research Scientist/Team Leader at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (AIRI). He works on modern optimization and machine learning tasks, including federated learning, stochastic optimization, neural network training, and asynchronous optimization.

Alexander Tyurin defended his Ph.D. thesis at Higher School of Economics with his former supervisor, Professor Alexander Gasnikov. Before that, he earned Bachelor degrees in Computer Science from Lomonosov Moscow State University and Master degrees in Optimization and Statistics from Higher School of Economics. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at KAUST, Visual Computing Center, working together with Professor Peter Richtárik. He also worked at Yandex Self-Driving Cars, Perception team, and other IT companies, where he developed real-time computer vision algorithms for self-driving cars, face recognition, and natural language processing.
