Profile:

Alexey Nikolaev is a Professor of Practice at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Skoltech. Alexey’s core activity includes design and delivery of the courses and extracurricula activities (including students E&I projects supervision) in the areas of Product Innovation and User-Centered Product Design, Technology Entrepreneurship, Marketing of Innovations as well as mentorship of prospective startups (IT, Internet of Things, Digital areas).

He also serves as an invited project mentor and industry expert for other universities, among which are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow State University, and Higher School of Economics, also in Moscow.

Alexey has over 25 years of IT industry experience, working for such companies as Samsung Electronics and Intel Corporation. The focus of his work has been on Research and Development, Academic Relations, Startups acceleration, Innovations and Entrepreneurship education, internal innovations fostering, and new products design among other areas.

Dr. Nikolaev created a series of project and team-based courses (so-called “anti-courses”) that aim to accelerate engineering, design, and managements students towards hands-on and real-world innovations and entrepreneurship projects design experiences. He is also the author of a Coursera MOOC (massive on-line open course) on new hi-tech products design and marketing. Through his work, Alexey brings to Academia industrial practices for Lean/Agile Product Design, industry-university collaboration models, as well as the most recent technological and hi-tech markets trends.

Alexey graduated from Moscow State University with a PhD in Physics, and University of California, Berkeley with Executive Education in Product Management, Innovations and Entrepreneurship education. He authored over 60 publications in Russian and world-wide scientific journals.
