Alexander Ustinov

Prof. Alexander Ustinov holds two PhD degrees: one from the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (2005) and one with honors from the University of Paderborn in Germany (2008). Between 2002 and 2014, he lived and worked in Germany, where his career path has stretched from a PhD student through R&D engineer in the automobile industry, to an academic councilor at a university to the founder and owner of his own company. He has co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed works and participated in the creation of several start-up companies, successfully bringing novel products and technologies to the European and international market.

Prof. Ustinov is the founder of Advanced Energy Technologies GmbH, a German-based company, providing R&D and engineering services, project management, process and product development for major German and international companies. The company has developed unique expertise in building of experimental installations, development of measuring techniques, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations and modeling of processes of heat and mass transfer for automobile and energy branches.

At Skoltech Prof. Ustinov is going to build-up a state-of-the-art investigation laboratory in frameworks of CREI for Power Systems and establish a research on enhanced heat and mass transfer in boiling, condensation, free and forced convection, thermal management of equipment and exhaust gas after treatment technologies
